Each year, an array of incredible students are nominated by their charter schools for the Charter Institute at Erskine Student of the Year award. These students are nominated for their exceptional academic performance and dedication to their future. The Institute awards one student from each level of education: High School, Middle School, and Elementary School., The TPP staff was excited to interview Winson Cheung, the Middle School Student of the Year, from Libertas Academy – Boiling Springs!
Upon meeting, Winson was extremely excited to share about his school and his educational experience since joining Libertas. Read on to learn more about Winston!
Q: What is one aspect of your education that is unique to your school in particular?
A: “The education here is amazing, the staff and teachers are kind and will help you anytime, anywhere. There’s always lots of potential to make great friends.”
Q: How did receiving the “Student of The Year” award made you feel about your school and your academic journey to this point?
A: “The journey after achieving the Student of the Year award and being at Libertas…has shown me that I can always go for more.”
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up? How is Libertas preparing you for that?
A: “I want to be a pharmacist when I grow up. I think being a pharmacist lets you learn a lot of Latin words. My school has Latin classes.”
Q: What has been your favorite experience at Libertas?
A: My favorite experience last year was the Olympic day, we had to use teamwork and do different types of races. It was really fun.”
Q: How did school choice help you the most?
A: “School choice is really good because it allowed me to pick my path, and find Libertas. If I didn’t pick Libertas, I wouldn’t get these amazing benefits – and my best friend is here.”
As Student of the Year, you can see that Winson is an advocate for school choice, which has allowed him the opportunity to attend Libertas. At Libertas, he can continue to work to achieve his goal of becoming a Pharmacist and make memories that will last a lifetime.
